FEBRUARI, 2019

Do you want to take advantage of one of the most beautiful sunset spots in Lisbon? Then visit the Tower of Belém at the end of the day. This place is known for its beautiful sunsets. Pour a glass of wine and enjoy it!

The Tower of Belém

The Torre de Belém, the official name, is a fortified tower in the old cozy Belém district. In the early 16th century, this tower was built and it is a tribute to the voyages of discovery of Vasco da Gama and the Portuguese Century.

Because the tower lies directly on the banks of the Tagus, they had perfect view of the enemy coming from the sea. They could take then immediate action.

The Belém Tower is a UNESCO World Heritage site along with the Monsteiro dos Jerónimos Monastery and it’s a must visit during you stay in Lisbon. However, this tower is a very tourist attraction. Fortunately a visit to the tower is worth it.

Sunset at the Belém Tower

Go early on the day or during sunset. The Tower of Belém has one of the most beautiful views. The water on the Tagus is quiet so you can get a nice reflection on the water.

We decided to go here around sunset and this was one of our best decisions. This was great!

Wine with a view

A beautiful sunset comes with a good wine. At the Belém Tower there is often a small cart where they sell the best wine I had in Lisbon. Unfortunately isn’t cheap but you get a wine glass for free. The wine itself was very tasty and you tasted the quality

Visit the Tower of Belém

From the center of Lisbon you can come in different ways to the Tower of Belem. You can take one of the trams to the center of Belém. From there it’s a few minutes walk.

We went from the center of Lisbon with an electric scooter towards Belém. The ride to Belém it’s about 45 minutes. If you want to walk, just put you scooter in a safe place in the side of the road. If you don’t wanna walk anymore, pic up another scooter and cross away. It’s a funny outcome in sunny weather.

Rabbit Travel

On the way back we met Rabbit Travel. A young man who travels the world with his rabbits. Very lovely to see. I am always a little septic about such things but I saw that he took good care of his rabbits. They ran loose and looked good.
